Assistant Head Teacher

Darrick Wood Infant and Nursery School is a vibrant, three-form entry infant school and morning and afternoon sessions Nursery with a total of 348 pupils aged between 3 – 7 years. The school is located in Orpington (London Borough of Bromley) within beautiful grounds. We believe that every child is different and that everyone deserves the opportunity to be happy, secure and successful. The school is surrounded by large grounds and benefits from a spacious and attractive site with a good deal of green space which enables us to take our learning outside, including through Forest School sessions.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work alongside our Head Teacher, and the Senior Leadership Team to continue to raise quality and standards, ensuring that all pupils reach their full potential.
We are seeking a talented senior leader, to take on the role of Assistant Head Teacher at Darrick Wood Infant and Nursery School. The school was graded ‘Outstanding’ in 2009 and has had subsequent outstanding accredited challenge partner reviews. The school is also heavily oversubscribed in each year group. Darrick Wood Infant School joined Chancery Education Trust in September 2017.

For first time Assistant Head Teachers, we can provide close support in the form of mentoring from experienced Assistant Head Teachers & Principals within the Trust, and for existing Assistant Head Teachers, we can offer opportunities to progress to Headship in the future.

To be successful you will:
• hold QTS or equivalent
• be an excellent teacher with very high expectations of what can be achieved
• have vision, passion and a proven record in school improvement
• be able to lead by example whilst motivating and developing staff
• understand how children learn best and have good behaviour management skills
• have high principles and expectations of achievement in behaviour
• have experience and understanding of EYFS and KS1
