Dear Parents and carers
Today the children and staff enjoyed a fun day celebrating world book day. If you were able to visit today I hope you enjoyed reading with your child. The children looked amazing in their costumes, thank you to everyone for making such an effort.
During the morning we also held a whole school assembly and everyone admired the fabulous selection of world book characters and tried to guess who was who. The children and staff looked fantastic!
The children’s author Grant Koper visited the school and during the assembly provided a live book reading of his children’s book “The day Granny’s Knickers Blew Away” It is a fun story and follows Granny Moon’s knickers after they had blown off the washing line! If you were not able to purchase the book at school today it is well worth visiting a local bookshop as the children thoroughly enjoyed the story and it is a great way to encourage your children to read.
The Year 6 KS2 SATS workshop was very well attended this week and I hope it provided an informative over view for you. Thank you to Miss Rosewell for organizing this event. The children and the team in Year 6 are working incredibly hard in preparation for the KS2 SATs in May. Thank you for encouraging and supporting your child with the current Year 6 homework.
Next week we are holding our parent consultation evenings. The teachers are ready to update you on your child’s progress and discuss their attitude towards learning. You will also have an opportunity to look at a selection of books. Please can I remind you to arrive on time for your appointment and if you do have younger children with you please bring something for them to read or quietly play with. It is important that the teachers can hear you and that the hall remains calm throughout the evening so please do also remind your child that they must be sensible and not run around in the hall.
I hope you all have a rest full weekend and have a very happy mothers day.
