Dear Parents / Carers,
We started the week celebrating Victory in Europe Day. The children made a great effort to dress up, some children dressed up in 1940s attire, some wore the colours of the Union Jack others dressed up as journalists to report on the events of the past. They looked absolutely amazing, you can view some of the photos on the newsletter.
The children spent the day learning about this important event, they watched videos of how the day was celebrated, the conditions people lived through during the war but most importantly they broadened and deepened their knowledge on learning the reasons to why this day is so special. The teachers worked extremely hard to ensure the children had an extra fun filled day by organising wonderful activities. We celebrated their achievements in a special assembly. Year 1 shared their beautiful vibrant posters as well as their descriptive writing of a war time soldier. Year 3 shared their biographies of Winston Churchill, Year 4 read out some beautiful poems and Year 5 shared their wonderful newspaper report.
Next week Year 6 will start the SATs tests, the children and the Year 6 team have worked tremendously hard to prepare for this and we wish all the children the best of luck. We ask that parents support us by ensuring the children get a good night’s sleep and come in for the breakfast that will be provided for them over the four days.
Our PTA team are working tirelessly to organise a great summer fair for the school which will be held on Friday 29th June. They still need your help and would greatly appreciate it if you could show your support by volunteering to specific roles or making donations. Please could you contact the school if you can help. We need you!
On Thursday 17th May we will be celebrating the Royal Wedding, the theme of the day is ‘A Royal Feast’, the children are to dress up as royalty or a wedding guest. I look forward to seeing all the children in their smart attire. There will be a party in the afternoon, please can parents communicate with class teachers regarding food donations.
Thank you to all the children and staff for yet another fantastic week, have a lovely weekend.
