Dear Parents / Carers,
After a successful book fair last week we managed to raise £241.36. This money will go back into the school to purchase new books for the children. This has prompted us to review our library and we have decided to give it a little make-over. A number of our support staff have been working hard to organise the books, we had many books that needed a new home, so we have donated a large amount to Kumasi Children’s Home in Ghana. If you have any books to donate please send them in and we can donate them for you. We will also hold a second hand book sale in school soon, the money raised will go into buying new resources for the school.
Year 2 started the SATs test this week. The assessments are low key and within the normal classroom setting. At times the teaching day may be changed or organised differently to accommodate the needs of the children. As a school we ensure that this is done in positive and calm manner so the children feel comfortable. The teachers and support staff involved endeavour to make this a stress free time and we ask that you support us with this.
As a whole school we are having a focus on ‘Friendships and Relationships’, this is order to help children manage their feelings when they encounter conflict with friends/family. The children have been exploring this through discussing and analysing situations they encounter in real life as well as themes from the class text they are reading. We want the children to make the right choices in stressful situations and would greatly appreciate it if you could discuss this further at home with you child. There are lots of tips and tricks available online to help with the discussion.
On Tuesday we will be celebrating Victory in Europe Day, the theme is 1940s attire or colours of the Union Jack. We would greatly appreciate it if you could donate any items the class teachers have requested, all the classes are doing different things so please speak to your child’s class teacher directly.
I hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend and I look forward to seeing the children back on Tuesday in their VE day themed attire.
