Dear Parents and carers,

To mark the celebration of British Sign Language Week the children have started to learn the song ‘Rainbow’ in sign. the whole school will get together and perform this, it will be recorded and you can view on @Davidson Academy.  Please could you practise the signs with your child using the following video as a guide. Please remember to supervise your child/ren when using YouTube

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday, our whole school theme was ‘Where’s Wally / Wanda ?  There were many children who dressed up as this character along with other books characters.  It was great watching the children get into the spirit of the day and enjoy the learning.

We also used the opportunity to unveil the brand new Key Stage 2 library that the PTA have dedicated a tremendous amount to complete.  The library is a Harry Potter themed master piece and I am so pleased with the new space.  The children were flabbergasted by how amazing it looks and are looking forward to spending time reading in there.  Not only have the PTA decorated the library they have also funded a huge amount of brand new books. Well done and thank you from everyone at Davidson.

The PTA are already working on their next big project which is to improve the Sensory Room, they held a cake sale today to get started in raising funds.  Again thank you PTA and everybody for supporting to improve the school.

Today we held a Dance-athon in school as part of Croydon Gets Active and to donate money to the Sarcoma Cancer Research Charity.  Thank you for all your donations.

Finally, finishing with the World Book Day theme, Can you spot Wally or Wanda in out newsletter?

Yours faithfully,

Miss Begum

Acting Principal
